LIST PICK
JERRY WILLIAMS MOTHER
Kate Nash, Lily Allen...the UK indie scene has long loved strong women with stories to tell. Now joining their worthy ranks is 19 year old newcomer Jerry Williams with her seemingly autobiographical offbeat single 'Mother'. Told with the same relish you might regale a story to your best mate on the bus to sixth form college, the Portsmouth native's music is undeniably chirpy, and although she discusses tribulations of teenage life she seems anything but down in the dumps. We love the sunny guitar hook and the style takes us straight back to the summer of indie love circa 2007. With a couple of upcoming London shows, you can catch her at The Finsbury or Birthdays before the month ends. - SJ
